The Role

As an Events Operations Manager, you will lead the event operations department in the Climate Action team in the UK. We're seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly motivated team player to help deliver a world-class portfolio of events in the climate change and sustainability space.

Your key focus areas will include:

  • Delivering memorable experiences that inspire and engage
  • Championing excellence, precision, and passion in every aspect of event operations
  • Leading the operational delivery of conferences and exhibitions from conception to completion
  • Managing both existing and newly launched events across the portfolio
  • Overseeing all event logistics and onsite event management
  • Ensuring optimal customer experience through thoughtful planning and execution
  • Coordinating sponsor and exhibitor management to maximise engagement and satisfaction
  • Handling budget planning and cost control without compromising quality
  • Selecting and managing venues and service providers to ensure seamless delivery
  • Maintaining exceptional attention to detail and upholding the highest standards

The Event Operations Manager role will constantly evolve and develop as the business grows and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across high-profile events attended by senior representatives from regional governments, UN agencies, international and regional NGOs, investors, donors, research institutes, and solution providers.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who meets the essential criteria below and ideally brings some of the desirable qualities too.

Essential

  • Proven experience in conference and exhibition management with extensive international operational experience (including sponsor liaison, event delivery, budget management, registration, customer service, venue/supplier management, health and safety, and risk assessments)
  • Passionate about climate change and sustainability, with a desire to organise successful global events that reduce carbon footprint
  • Skilled in delivering digital events across various platforms such as Zoom, Hopin and Swapcard
  • Flexible approach to event delivery and ability to meet client demands within tight timeframes
  • Strong track record leading operations for conferences and exhibitions of all scales, including events with 1,000+ attendees
  • Confident negotiator with experience in sourcing and managing suppliers
  • Ownership of budgeting, financial planning, and cost containment strategies
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with an independent working style and strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Highly organised and methodical, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Natural leader with the ability to motivate teams, drive operational excellence, and deliver high-impact events
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining stakeholder relationships
  • Positive work ethic, proactive mindset, and eagerness to learn and grow
  • Take initiative and ownership of responsibilities with a self-motivated attitude
  • Committed to delivering outstanding event experiences, with a hands-on approach when needed
  • Open to unrestricted travel for event delivery and coordination
  • Competent in health and safety protocols, including writing thorough risk assessments
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with flexibility to work independently and collaboratively

Desirable

  • Enthusiasm for sustainability
  • An IOSH qualification
  • International experience and foreign language skills
