Apply now

If you’re deeply concerned about climate change and the ongoing destruction of the environment, yet excited about the opportunity to actively work on a meaningful solution, this role could be a perfect fit for you.

Who we are

We are Climate Accountability API, a climate tech nonprofit organization based in Berlin. We are currently one of the world’s leading providers of real-time data related to global warming and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. We serve around 80,000 software applications at no cost. Recently, we won the national competition for the E.ON Foundation’s European Climate Fund, securing a €10,000 prize. These funds are being used to develop our prototype: a suite of software solutions designed to inform the public about the environmental impact of companies operating in the European Union and around the world. By empowering people with this information, we aim to shift resources away from carbon-intensive businesses toward more green alternatives, accelerating the transition to a sustainable future.

We are seeking an LLM engineer to help us develop an open for collaboration ESG platform. You will help build the next generation of AI-powered tools for identifying corporate transparency and sustainability. Our ESG infrastructure will help people understand the environmental and social impact of companies operating in the EU and around the world.

This role is ideal for someone excited about LLM engineering, data collection, open source development, applied AI, and climate impact. You’ll work side by side in person with the founder to develop the product and collaborate closely with our team of data scientists, researchers, and AI specialists. The work will focus on building and improving LLM-based workflows for our ESG platform, including tasks related to data extraction, retrieval, evaluation, and model integration.

What you’ll do

  • Help design and implement LLM-powered features for our companies ESG platform.
  • Work with open-source tools such as Ollama, LlamaIndex, Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek, LangChain, and other AI-related infrastructure to extract ESG information from companies’ websites, annual reports, and other public sources.
  • Support data extraction, structuring, evaluation, and retrieval pipelines.
  • Collaborate on prompt design, model testing, and performance improvements.
  • Contribute to a mission-driven product with real-world climate and ESG impact.
  • Data engineering knowledge is a plus.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience with open-source AI, LLMs, and climate/ESG applications.
  • Experience with Python and practical software development.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-moving, early-stage environment.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a strong willingness to learn.

What we offer

  • €80/month allowance for transportation and other expenses.
  • Coworking space at Impact Hub in central Barcelona.
  • Access to a strong impact community, networking activities, and events.
  • Access to a high-performance computer for executing local LLM and AI tasks.
  • Close collaboration with the founder while building the product.
  • Regular feedback and support from our data scientists, researchers, and AI specialists.
  • Opportunity to transition into a part-time or full-time position when funding allows.
  • Opportunity to acquire equity in our upcoming for-profit subsidiary focused on user-facing applications.

Why join us

  • You’ll be joining a project that combines AI, transparency, and climate action at an early stage, with the chance to shape the product from the ground up. If you want to build meaningful technology with a real social impact, this is a good opportunity to do it in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
