Role Description The Commercial Director | Spanish Carbon Credits (MITECO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Madrid, responsible for leading ClearSky’s commercial strategy and execution in the Spanish carbon-credit market. This position oversees end-to-end commercial development for MITECO-aligned projects, including market analysis, pipeline development, pricing, structuring and negotiation of offtake and trading agreements. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with corporate buyers, project partners, regulators and financial institutions, while ensuring that commercial activities align with evolving Spanish and EU compliance frameworks. The Commercial Director will collaborate closely with technical, legal and finance teams to translate project pipelines into bankable transactions, forecast revenue, and manage commercial risk. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading a small commercial team, setting sales targets, reporting performance to leadership, and representing ClearSky in key industry forums and stakeholder meetings in Spain.
Qualifications
  • Strong Analytical Skills, including quantitative modeling, market analysis and commercial risk assessment.
  • Proven experience in Business Planning, with the ability to develop go-to-market strategies, revenue forecasts and commercial roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Commercial Management, including contract structuring, pricing, negotiation and portfolio optimization.
  • Track record in Team Management, leading cross-functional or commercial teams and fostering collaborative, inclusive working environments.
  • Solid Sales capabilities, particularly in B2B or financial products, with experience closing complex, multi-stakeholder transactions.
  • Extensive knowledge of carbon markets, preferably including Spanish MITECO frameworks and EU compliance and voluntary schemes.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills; additional European languages are an asset.
