SUMMARY:

Our client, operating within the Renewable Energy sector, is in search of a highly qualified R&D Manager who has specialized knowledge in the electrified vehicle and energy storage fields. The perfect candidate will have a robust technical background in chemistry, a deep understanding of developing chemical solutions to improve battery efficiency, experience in the patenting process, and the capability to lead and manage a dynamic R&D team.

DUTIES:

  • Oversee a team of R&D engineers, offering guidance, mentorship, and cultivating a collaborative and innovative work atmosphere.
  • Establish clear goals and performance standards for the R&D team.
  • Adopt agile methodologies to improve responsiveness to market needs and technological progress.
  • Supervise the planning, execution, and timely delivery of R&D projects while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Administer the operations of the technical R&D center, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Work in partnership with cross-functional teams to ensure R&D initiatives align with business objectives.
  • Provide consistent updates and reports to the global R&D leadership.
  • Offer insights and suggestions to the overall innovation strategy.
  • Build partnerships with external research institutions, industry experts, and collaborators to harness collective expertise.
  • Engage in industry conferences and forums to remain informed about the latest advancements.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of chemical processes to develop solutions that enhance lithium-ion battery performance.
  • Keep up with developments in the electrified vehicle and energy storage sectors to promote ongoing improvement.
  • Formulate and execute strategies for patenting new discoveries and solutions.
  • Manage intellectual property portfolios to safeguard valuable innovations.
  • Respond swiftly to customer inquiries, delivering technical insights and solutions.
  • Lead the resolution of technical challenges in both field and laboratory settings.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 15+ years of established experience in research and development of lithium-ion batteries, particularly in chemical formulation.
  • A solid grasp of patenting procedures and the management of intellectual property.
  • Proven capability to lead and oversee a research and development team.
  • An agile mindset that allows for adaptation to changing industry requirements.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities, with a talent for tackling technical issues in both field and laboratory settings.

EDUCATION:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; relevant industry experience is essential.
