Position Overview
The Senior Associate will principally support Clean Tomorrow’s clean energy siting policy work at the Siting Solutions Project. In this role, you conduct groundbreaking research, analysis, and policy strategy to improve the pace and scale of clean energy deployment at the state level. This Senior Associate-level role is ideal for someone passionate about clean energy, policy, and coalition-building who is eager to identify, interrogate, and advance effective energy policy solutions. This role will report to the Siting Policy Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Foundational Analysis and Policy Development (50%)
- Conduct original research and analysis on clean energy siting policy topics
- Assess existing and develop new policy frameworks, with consulting partners
- Draft, edit, and quality control a range of communication materials including reports, newsletters, blogs, and memos
Stakeholder Alignment (40%)
- Track and analyze clean energy siting legislation across the US
- Contribute to and maintain a public-facing clean energy siting policy dashboard
- Organize and conduct national stakeholder coordination calls
- Engage siting policy academic, industry, and NGO partners
- Draft grant reports and other materials for funders
Technical Assistance and Advocate Support (10%)
- Provide technical analysis and bill review support to the Siting Policy Manager
- Track project deliverables and ensure deadlines are met
Qualifications
- 2+ years of climate and clean energy policy experience
- Publication record that demonstrates research, writing, and analytical competencies
- Excellent written communication and public speaking skills
- Advanced degree in relevant field preferred (e.g., Public Policy, Environmental Science, Public Administration)
Competencies
- Strong research and critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly build an understanding of key policy, regulatory and technology concepts; ability to integrate relevant information into work products.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a proven track record of stakeholder engagement
- Ability to multiple complex projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
- Strong alignment with Clean Tomorrow’s mission to advance policies that reduce climate emissions by turning policy ambition into action

Working Conditions

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 to $100,000 base annual salary
- Bonus opportunities
