Role Responsibilities and Duties


The Soil, Emissions Avoidance and Contracts (SEAC) Branch is seeking an Assistant Manager to join the Waste and Energy Assessments Section.


Under broad direction, the Assistant Manager will:


  • Review applications to ensure compliance with legislative criteria.
  • In some instances, make delegated decisions about issuing Australian Carbon Credit Units.
  • Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to promote the Agency business objectives, manage change and resolve conflicts.
  • Respond to complex stakeholder enquiries about new and unique project circumstances.
  • Develop risk management, strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Develop policy, procedures, guidelines and technical improvements that can be applied to situations involving considerable complexity and risk.
  • Develop guidance and training materials for internal and external use.
  • Supervise a number of staff and lead a sub-team.


Knowledge, Skills and Attributes


We are seeking a wide range of skills and experience in the various roles to complement our multidisciplinary team.


Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:


  • Experience in leading a team who are organised and adaptable to change, including the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Qualifications and/or work experience in environmental science and engineering are desirable, but not essential.
  • Prior experience, qualifications or understanding of legislation or regulation, policy; program; carbon accounting frameworks; economics; project or financial management or data analytics would be an advantage.
