cKinetics is looking for an energetic Senior Associate who is passionate about clean fuel markets and the energy transition and is looking to lead projects and teams doing meaningful, cutting-edge work.


We work across compliance clean fuel markets, including California LCFS, Washington CFS, Oregon CFP, Canada CFR, and BC LCFS, as well as low-carbon fuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Renewable Diesel (RD), and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). Through our market intelligence, analytical models, and data-driven products, we help businesses, investors, and policymakers navigate the rapidly evolving global clean fuels and energy transition landscape.

Role

The role involves assessing and evaluating research elements to produce required outputs for client deliveries. Deliverables include creative presentations and narratives backed by market analysis, data insights, and modelling.

The candidate will:

  • Develop an understanding of the different drivers and constraints impacting specific markets within the clean fuels space.
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, including overseeing team members working on assigned projects.
  • Guide team members in undertaking primary and secondary research and formulating appropriate solution frameworks.
  • Support practice leadership in developing collateral such as white papers, intelligence briefs, and business proposals.


Key Responsibilities

Sector and Industry Research

  • Undertake analysis of global and regional clean fuel programs, with a specific focus on North America and the EU.
  • Monitor legislative changes and market developments and assess their impact on respective clean fuel markets and programs.
  • Lead conversations with clients, advisors, and external market participants globally and help solve client problems.
  • Identify patterns and trends in data to draw conclusions, make inferences, and build spreadsheet-based models.

Project & Time Management

  • Plan and execute projects with team members, adhering to task completion timelines through self-monitoring and coordination with Analysts to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with project and internal teams, including Engagement Managers, Directors, and Partners, to develop cohesive solutions for client projects, problems, programs, and products.
  • Own delivery of on-demand consulting projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery with the requisite level of client satisfaction.

Client Engagement

  • Ensure client satisfaction through analytical, impactful, and world-class written and oral presentations backed by data insights, trends, and patterns derived from structured and unstructured data analysis.
  • Create customized client retention strategies through high-engagement activities.

Business Development Support

  • Provide business development support by undertaking active pursuits with existing and potential cKinetics clients. This will include developing proposals, concept notes, and other collateral as needed to present cKinetics' capabilities.
  • Develop innovative solutions and aim to generate new intellectual property in these markets through new product offerings, thematic topics, and emerging developments.


About You

The ideal candidate must have the desire to work in sustainability transition interventions and have the following mindset and skill sets:

  • Proactive and independent, with a passion for sustainability.
  • Flexible and creative mindset, with the ability to understand diverse markets and client organizations.
  • Problem-solver with a drive to take ownership.
  • Strong analytical abilities and excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient in financial modelling, with experience developing spreadsheet-based models. Experience with econometric modelling is a plus.
  • Ability to work hands-on and multitask in an energetic environment.
  • Up to date with global events, with an interest in energy and environmental sciences.
  • Passionate about presenting and discussing research findings with senior audiences and industry experts.


You Must Have

  • A Master's degree in engineering, an MBA, or a related degree.
  • Demonstrated research, education, or work experience related to transportation, climate change, energy, or public policy.
  • Experience as an author or co-author of papers, technical or policy reports, white papers, or other forms of written communication.
  • 4–7 years of relevant consulting experience in a related field, such as clean fuel programs, biofuels, oil & gas, energy transition, sustainability and low-carbon transition, or renewable energy.
