About The Role
The Sustainability Officer role will support the delivery of climate action initiatives that make it easier for our residents to live sustainably. Working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, it will contribute to behaviour-change projects, community programs and Council-wide sustainability actions.
This role works closely with staff across the organisation, as well as local community groups, volunteers and members of the public. The ability to build relationships and provide high-quality support will help drive positive environmental outcomes across Boroondara.
Key Responsibilities
The role will help plan and deliver a range of sustainability projects, preparing documentation, schedules and reports whilst assisting with procurement and ensuring activities are delivered in line with Council processes.
The role supports the smooth delivery of workshops and events and works with Communications to promote programs and keep our community informed. It will also work closely with sustainability groups to help build their capacity and support their goals.
Monitoring data, preparing reports and responding to community enquiries will be part of your day-to-day work and it will contribute to team operations and step in to assist with additional tasks as needed.
About You
You hold qualifications or experience in sustainability, environmental management or community engagement. You understand local sustainability issues and are motivated to support behaviour change in our community.
You bring experience delivering projects or events and can manage time, priorities and deadlines effectively. Your communication skills help you engage confidently with diverse audiences, whether in writing, in person or online.
You work well in a team, build strong relationships and are committed to delivering excellent customer service. You’re adaptable, proactive and bring a positive, solutions-focused approach.

Employment Requirements
