We’ve set ambitious targets, backed by thoughtful planning, smart design, and genuine community collaboration. Now, we’re looking for a passionate, skilled Senior Data and Utilities Officer to join our growing team and help turn our plans into real, measurable outcomes for the community.
If you’re ready to use your knowledge and expertise to make a lasting impact - on our neighbourhoods, our city, and our planet - we’d love you to join our growing team.
About The Role
The Senior Data and Utilities Officer is responsible for collecting, managing and analysing environmental data relating to energy, water, waste and greenhouse gas emissions. It will ensure Council has accurate and up-to-date information to guide climate decision-making whilst also supporting the delivery of the Climate Action Plan using data to help track progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
As a senior team member, it will provide leadership and coaching to the Environmental Sustainability & Utilities Officer, contributing to a positive, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
You will maintain and analyse Council’s environmental data to support accurate reporting and informed decision-making, oversee utility accounts and usage trends to identify opportunities to reduce costs and emissions, and provide data insights for climate action planning, risk assessments and grant applications. You will work collaboratively across the organisation to prepare clear, accurate sustainability reports and presentations, while leading and supporting a small team to deliver high-quality work and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You
You bring experience in managing environmental or utility data and understand climate mitigation and adaptation principles. You have strong analytical capability, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
You communicate clearly, work collaboratively and translate complex information into practical insights. You demonstrate integrity, initiative and a strong commitment to environmental outcomes. Experience in local government, carbon accounting or sustainability reporting is desirable.
