At Boroondara, we’re not just talking about climate action — we’re doing it. And to show we mean business, we’ve created a new, dedicated Climate Action and Sustainability department to drive meaningful change and deliver on the commitments outlined in our Climate Action Plan.
We’ve set ambitious targets, backed by thoughtful planning, smart design, and genuine community collaboration. Now, we’re looking for a passionate, skilled Coordinator Sustainability Projects and Reporting to join our growing team and help turn our plans into real, measurable outcomes for the community.
If you’re ready to use your knowledge and expertise to make a lasting impact - on our neighbourhoods, our city, and our planet - we’d love you to join our growing team.
About The Role
The Coordinator Sustainability Projects and Reporting leads a specialised team delivering projects that support a more sustainable and low-emissions future for Boroondara. You will guide the implementation of integrated water, energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives, working closely with colleagues across the organisation and key external partners. The role plays a vital part in improving the sustainability of Council operations and creating opportunities for the community to live more sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide leadership and support to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring projects are well-planned, delivered on time and evaluated to demonstrate impact. The role involves overseeing project administration, preparing briefs, managing consultants and ensuring stakeholders receive timely information. You will develop and manage work plans, budgets and performance reporting while contributing expert advice to organisation-wide sustainability initiatives. Representing Council in external forums, analysing sustainability data and preparing reports and strategies are also core functions of the role.
About You
You bring qualifications or demonstrated experience in environmental sustainability, along with strong communication, project management and problem-solving skills. You are an effective leader who can guide teams through complex challenges, build strong relationships and provide clear, practical advice. Your experience in sustainability data, operational improvements and strategic planning—ideally in a government setting—sets you up for success in this highly collaborative role.
