Cititec are working with a global Renewable Energy business who produce a diversified portfolio of power, solar, wind, and storage assets. They are building a new Market Risk function from the ground up and are looking for a smart, technical quant analyst to join them.

You will play a key role in designing and implementing the firm's next-generation risk infrastructure, supporting robust market risk oversight across physical and financial commodity portfolios. • Build and maintain risk reporting, exposure dashboards and quantitative risk metrics.
  • Work with market data, forward curves, positions and pricing data to develop a robust internal risk database.
  • Support the implementation of a new enterprise market data and risk infrastructure, reducing reliance on external consultancy and data providers.
  • Develop automated processes for data validation, curve management and risk reporting.
  • Partner with Trading, Finance and Technology teams to ensure accurate, timely and scalable risk analytics.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of risk models, controls and governance as the function evolves.

Requirements

  • Experience within Market Risk, Risk Analytics or Commodity Risk in an energy trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of market risk methodologies across physical and financial commodity portfolios.
  • Experience working with market data, forward curves, pricing and trading positions.
  • Strong technical skills in Python and SQL, with experience manipulating large datasets and automating analytical workflows.
  • Exposure to ETRM systems, risk platforms or market data infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to bridge technical and commercial teams.
  • An interest in applying AI and modern data science techniques to market risk, analytics and process automation. The business is investing heavily in AI-enabled tooling and is looking for individuals who are keen to work in a technology-led environment and help shape the next generation of risk analytics.

Desirable experience or interest

  • Building quantitative models rather than solely consuming third-party analytics.
  • Knowledge of forward curve construction, fundamental market modelling and commodity pricing methodologies.
  • Exposure to developing proprietary market data, valuation or risk models in-house.
  • Experience supporting the migration away from consultancy-led or vendor-managed analytical solutions.
