Director, Training, Certification & Technical Publications

What You Will Be Doing

The Director of Technical Publications will lead the creation and maintenance of all technical documentation for ChargePoint's hardware and software products. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, compliance, support, and other key teams.

You will work with a team of technical writers and illustrators to create engaging documentation for EVSE Field Technicians and other technical audiences. Success in this role requires a self-driven individual who excels in fast-paced environments.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in technical documentation.
  • Implement the latest technologies (such as AI) to optimize documentation processes and development.
  • Develop technical documentation that supports future training and video asset creation.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of technical content within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Manage the roadmap, prioritization, and timelines for technical documentation and localization projects.
  • Lead localization efforts, ensuring solutions are cost-effective while maintaining process consistency, quality, and timeliness.
  • Redesign and update lessons to align with current standards and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create accurate, detailed technical documentation.
  • Work closely with engineers, QA teams, and product managers to gather relevant content.
  • Ensure scalable, globally consistent documentation solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in designing and developing instructional materials in complex product environments (both hardware and software).
  • Experience with LMS platforms is required; familiarity with LearnUpon and Seismic is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and its applications in learning solutions.
  • Proficiency in writing behavioral objectives, assessments, and course materials using instructional design principles.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information from SMEs into clear, concise documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in fields such as Curriculum Development, Instructional Design/Technology, or Education.
  • Proficiency in course authoring tools, particularly Articulate Storyline 360.
  • Experience in localization and ensuring documentation aligns with global standards.
  • Skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for image editing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with HTML and CSS, especially within version control systems like Git.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
