Senior Staff Accountant

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join their Operations Accounting team. This pivotal role will be the expert for revenue and receivable accounting within one of their business segments.

Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this position requires a professional who can not only manage daily accounting functions but also drive compliance, execute fluctuation analyses, and champion continuous process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize technical accounting knowledge and directly impact the financial accuracy of a core business unit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure Accurate Revenue Recognition: Scrutinize sales contracts and complex transactions to guarantee revenue is recorded in the correct period, adhering to proper controls and IFRS standards.
  • Manage Accruals and Adjustments: Review and accurately record sales and freight accruals, and prepare necessary AR adjustments and accruals.
  • Support Financial Closing: Prepare all required journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and produce essential financial schedules for management.
  • Conduct Variance Analysis: Execute detailed fluctuation analysis to review and clearly explain period-over-period changes in the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Drive Compliance and Control: Actively assist in maintaining J-SOX and Anti-Fraud compliance, supporting various audits, and upholding the company's anticorruption program.
  • Optimize Systems and Processes: Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts, including enhancing processes and communication to achieve efficiencies.
  • Audit and Reporting Support: Prepare ad hoc reports and assist internal/external audit teams, while also supporting executive management reporting related to revenue and AR.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Respond efficiently to inquiries and data requests from the Credit, Inventory, and General Ledger (GL) teams.

Preferred Qualifications & Attributes

  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required, along with 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (prior experience with general ledger and financial statement preparation is required).
  • Technical Acumen: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Key Competencies: Possesses exemplary analytical and communication skills, strong organizational ability, and demonstrated effectiveness in managing deadlines, especially during month, quarter, and year-end close.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain quality relationships that foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.
