As we continue to grow, we are seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Controller to lead our accounting function and strengthen our financial operations.
Position Summary for Controller:
The Controller will oversee the organization's daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role is ideal for a strategic yet roll-up-your-sleeves leader who thrives in a mission-centered environment and enjoys building efficient processes. The Controller will partner closely with leadership to ensure accurate financials, support decision-making, and maintain compliance across multiple funding sources, including grants, insurance reimbursements, and state programs.
Key Responsibilities of Controller:

Oversee all accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll oversight, general ledger, month-end and year-end close.

Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements relevant to behavioral health and healthcare finance.

Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and workflow improvements.

Manage grant and contract accounting, including revenue recognition, budget tracking, and reporting.

Collaborate with operations and clinical leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Coordinate annual audit processes and work with external auditors, tax professionals, and other advisors.

Oversee and guide the accounting team, providing mentorship, training, and performance development.

Support system implementations, integrations, and process automation as the organization grows.

Analyze financial trends and provide insights to support organizational strategy and operational decisions.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or Controller role.

Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, non-profit, or grant-funded environments highly preferred.

Strong understanding of GAAP and multi-entity or multi-fund accounting.

Hands-on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic and detailed levels.

Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite,).

Excellent communication skills, strong analytical mindset, and a collaborative leadership style.
