The Green Jobs Coordinator is responsible for implementing, managing, and evaluating CFROG’s green workforce development activities. In this position, the Green Jobs Coordinator will teach climate justice, climate change, and offshore wind career curriculum to pre-apprenticeship labor students and potentially other audiences. This work also includes participation and meaningful involvement in offshore wind and/or green workforce related coalition and advocacy spaces, including the Central Coast Community Benefits Coalition. Additionally, this position will work on communications projects to uplift offshore wind benefits, fight against misinformation, and provide public education. The Green Jobs Coordinator is supervised by the Executive Director and collaborates with the Program Manager and Community Organizing Manager. 


This is a full-time, non-exempt, and temporary grant-funded position. The position is initially funded for 12 months. We are continuing to raise funds with a goal of transitioning the role to non-temporary, based on organizational priorities and funding availability. We are committed to supporting the professional growth of our team members, and there may be opportunities for increased responsibilities as the organization evolves. 


This position has flexible hours and will include periodic evening and weekend work. The position will largely work out of CFROG’s office in Ventura. CFROG operates in an optional hybrid model, where a schedule of in-office and remote work may be agreed upon by the employee and supervisors. In-person activities will require travel across the Central Coast region – in Ventura, North Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. 


Green Jobs Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 


  • Teaching CFROG’s innovative offshore wind training currently included in the Multi-Craft Curriculum pre-apprenticeship program organized by Tri-Counties Building & Construction Trades Council, and potentially other audiences, including youth. 
  • Working with other CFROG team members to develop and/or update curriculum and presentation materials related to offshore wind. 
  • Help manage the inventory of virtual reality headsets and other training materials used. 
  • Coordinate with labor partners and other interested parties on training logistics. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training materials and activities and assist in program-related grant reporting requirements and track program activities and progress. 
  • Co-develop, organize, and coordinate community engagement and policy advocacy related to green jobs and workforce development. 
  • Participate as a CFROG and community spokesperson in green jobs-related working groups and coalitions. 
  • Serve as a spokesperson for CFROG’s just transition work at public events or other presentations. 
  • Develop creative and engaging communication pieces (LTEs, op-eds, social media, etc.) related to offshore wind and green workforce development. 
  • When appropriate and feasible, assist with other CFROG climate justice programming and fundraising.


Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) certification, labor apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship experience, associate’s degree, teaching/instructor experience, or equivalent required.
  • Experience teaching, training, and/or presenting new information to varied audiences. 
  • 1+ years of paid or volunteer experience in community engagement and/or education. 
  • Ability to work with technology, including virtual reality headsets, and work in a computerized environment, including adequate knowledge of word processing, email, internet, spreadsheet software, and at least basic social media proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Able to set own work priorities, manage responsibilities, and time. 
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience with and desire to work with diverse cultures and the ability to engage people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region and work on weekends.

Compensation

Starting pay for this full-time position is $31.73/hour. Benefits include paid sick time, 15 days of vacation for new employees, paid federal holidays and winter break (December 25-January 1), retirement plan with employer contribution (SIMPLE IRA), medical insurance (75% employer-paid premium), and professional development opportunities.
