Role
We are looking for an experienced Biomethane Originator to help grow CFP Energy's biomethane business by sourcing and securing physical supply from producers, plants and project developers.
You will identify and develop relationships with biomethane and biogas producers, negotiate offtake agreements and structure supply contracts that create long-term commercial value for CFP. You will assess new opportunities across the market, considering volumes, pricing, feedstock, certification, regulatory requirements and associated risks.
The role will also involve managing relationships throughout the transaction lifecycle and working closely with trading, legal, sustainability and operations teams to ensure supply is effectively structured and delivered. You will have a strong understanding of the value of both physical biomethane and associated Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), including how certification and regulatory frameworks influence commercial opportunities.
This is a commercially focused role with the opportunity to build CFP Energy's biomethane supply portfolio, develop a strong producer network and originate new opportunities across key European markets.
Ideal candidate:
- Degree in Energy Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance or a related field.
- Ideally 5+ years' experience in energy trading, commodity origination or renewable energy markets.
- Ideally 2+ years' experience in biomethane trading and/or origination.
- Proven experience in deal origination, commercial negotiation and structuring supply or offtake agreements.
- Strong relationships within the biomethane, biogas or renewable energy sector, ideally with producers, plant owners or developers.
- Strong knowledge of biomethane markets, including production pathways, pricing, certification and regulatory drivers.
- Understanding of ISCC, REDcert, Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), RED II/III and relevant registry mechanisms.
- Understanding of grid injection, mass balance and book-and-claim systems.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to assess pricing, volumes and counterparty risk.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and commercial stakeholders.
Desired, but not required experience:
- Existing network of biomethane producers/developers.
- Experience with specific trading platforms or registries (e.g., AIB, national hubs).
- Multilingual capability if operating across European markets.
