Description and Responsibilities
The manager will help to facilitate and work with the members of the Land Use and Climate Working Group in the areas of deforestation, agriculture and greenhouse gas emissions, and biodiversity. The Land Use and Climate Working Group serves as a center of investor education and action on climate and land use issues. The manager will work closely with the Ceres Investor Network Team to help support investor-led campaigns to drive greater corporate ambition and action on nature and climate. This position will report to the Director, Food & Forests Team, Climate and Land Use Working Group.
This role is a full-time position that may work remotely or in the Boston, MA office or San Francisco, CA office. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Partner with Director to facilitate and support investor-company engagements and dialogues on multiple topics across the themes of the Ceres Land Use and Climate Working Group.
  • Manage the facilitation of portions of Land Use and Climate Working Group meetings.
  • Work with investor members of the Land Use and Climate Working Group to adopt and implement Food and Forest related commitments and corporate engagement strategies.
  • Execute Food and Forest programmatic strategy and manage projects and campaigns.
  • Support the development of investor-facing educational materials as needed.
  • Serve as F&F investor-corporate engagement topic lead and help coordinate engagement strategies on land use and climate change across Ceres.
  • Translate and distill corporate information into actionable recommendations.
  • Work with the Food & Forests team to develop and use Salesforce, the Ceres’ Investor Portal, and other tracking systems to ensure contacts, meetings, content, and team deliverables are up-to-date and available.
  • Manage and execute outreach to Ceres members by Ceres staff, including sign-on letters, meeting requests, and events, using Ceres’ Partner Engagement Management System (PEMS).
  • Infrequent travel to meetings and events, including international travel, is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience, preferably direct experience working in corporate sustainability, ideally with a focus on food and agricultural issues.
  • Desire to work with institutional investors to impact climate change, and sustainability of Food and Forest systems.
  • An understanding of institutional investors and financial markets is helpful but not a requirement.
  • Strong meeting facilitation, communication and presentation skills, including consensus building and synthesizing research into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and tactical skills, and ability to mobilize constituencies toward clear goals.
  • Experience managing and strengthening relationships and coordinating with different stakeholders and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, take precise notes, and work well in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organization, writing, and project management skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Bloomberg and Salesforce a plus.
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, passion for learning and a willingness to become proficient in ESG data, frameworks, and reporting.
  • Self-starter with an ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills.

Compensation: The hiring salary is $79,000 to $81,000 and pairs with competitive benefits.
