About the Internship Program

This 10-week immersive program provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to have an impact in Ceres’ environmental mission that tackles the world’s largest sustainability challenges, including climate change, water scarcity and pollution, and human rights abuses. Interns are embedded into Ceres’ teams to work alongside a supervisor to support learning, training, and organization navigation. For the duration of the program, students meet regularly with their leader to discuss development and support through biweekly check-ins, a midterm check-in, and a final review. Interns can expect to complete a presentation at the end of the work program to showcase their experience at Ceres.

This role is a temporary, part-time (15-20 hours per week) position that is remote or may be based in Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.

About the Company Network

The Company Network team engages with the 50+ members of the Ceres Company Network to help them develop sustainable business strategies that address, throughout their value chains, key challenges such as climate change, natural resource depletion and human rights abuses and inequity in all its forms. To assist in this work, the Company Network is seeking a detail-oriented and accomplished researcher to contribute to the development and execution of corporate engagement strategies. The intern will specifically focus on corporate engagements designed to advance Ceres agenda outlined in the “Build a Just and Inclusive Economy” section of the Ceres Roadmap 2030

Specific opportunities to support this work may include but are not limited to:
  • Present research and recommendations for building out content in the "Build a Just and Inclusive Economy” section of the Ceres Roadmap 2030, which will be leveraged in engagements with Company Network members;
  • Prioritize and facilitate development of external partnerships between Ceres and other human rights/ diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)/ just and inclusive economy (JIE) experts, through desk research and engagement with Company Network team members, and
  • Regularly scan the news for current events, potential partners, corporate leaders, or relevant reports as it relates to corporate social responsibility, DEI, and Just Transition, and
  • As needed, support company and sector specific Company Network engagements alongside relevant relationship managers.

Our ideal candidate will have a mix of the following skills:
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex human rights, equity, and justice issues and communicate them to a professional audience.
  • Experience reviewing and synthesizing multiple different sources of qualitative information into a cohesive case for action.
  • Prior office experience (full-time, part-time or internship).
  • Basic knowledge of non-profit, community engagement, or campaign strategy and funding structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently while being part of a team is also important.

Compensation: The salary for all intern positions is $17/hr.
