Description & Responsibilities
The Senior Manager designs and executes DEI programming and training for staff and Ceres’ Board. The role is designed to support the three objectives of the DEI plan; build trust and community, improve productivity and decrease burnout, and create a more connected hybrid work culture. This role will create DEI events, oversee DEI training for staff and Board, manage staff and Board committees, and provide counsel to People Operations staff.

This is a full-time position that will report to the Vice President, DEI. The primary duties of the Senior Manager, include:

  • Design, execute, and manage DEI events such as internal activities for awareness months
  • Oversee DEI training for Ceres’ Board members
  • Liaise with the Board DEI Committee to make sure that DEI and JIE are maximizing Board resources;
  • Manage Staff DEI Committee, delegate assignments to committee, and ensure members are waterfalling DEI strategy, policies, and events from the core DEI Team across the organization and providing staff feedback to the committee;
  • Strategize and execute all connectivity campaigns and works with Internal Communications Specialist and our Tech Department to find the optimal way to communicate key information to the larger staff without creating undue burden;
  • Work in partnership with the People Operations Training Manager to create a robust annual training schedule;
  • Work in partnership with the People Operations Employee Engagement Manager to create a BIPoC concentration within the mentorship program to ensure that BiPoC staff are properly supported throughout their careers at Ceres;
  • Work in partnership with the People Operations team in reviews and revision of Ceres’ onboarding process
  • Design and execute Peer Support Program
  • Oversee Ceres Wellness Committee and design wellness activities
  • Design Fun School and executes monthly connectivity events
  • Work with the Foundations Team to produce grant proposals and reports to support DEI goals
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, DEI Planning and Measurement as needed.

We understand that there are many paths to acquiring expertise and experience and therefore welcome candidates from diverse and nontraditional backgrounds for this role who have demonstrated equivalent transferable skills to carry out the major duties outlined in this job description, including the following required skills or experience:

  • Seven years of work experience showing progressive growth in roles and responsibilities.
  • Two to three years of experience working on DEI initiatives or programming in organizations.
  • Experience developing and providing in-person and virtual trainings in workplaces. Familiarity with how to teach to different learning styles appreciated.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and a can-do attitude with an understanding that no task is too complicated or too basic to address.
  • Experience cultivating effective and productive relationships with colleagues across gender identity, race, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Understanding of the importance and necessity of building a strong platform/infrastructure to support an organization’s DEI journey and implement solutions
  • Well-organized with strong project management skills and proven experience in connecting people and projects across functional areas;
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective verbal and written communicator;
  • Ability to process diverse sets of information at high speed, quickly make decisions and execute;
  • Effective collaborator and ability to perform all duties appropriately in a multicultural environment, while treating all persons with dignity and respect and experience being flexible, efficient, and diplomatic with diverse constituent groups.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, an ability to lead with empathy and inquiry, experience developing trusting relationships with colleagues, and an ability to manage confidential information;
  • Proven experience and comfort using technology (computers, audio/visual systems) and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (calendar, docs, and mail), and CRM systems such as Salesforce; and

Compensation: The hiring salary is $81,00 to $85,000 and paired with competitive benefits.
