Description & Responsibilities
The Ceres Events & Sponsorship team is responsible for planning, organizing and executing on Ceres flagship events. Additionally, the team supports the execution of larger in-person and public virtual events throughout the year. The team coordinates these events and we are searching for a Manager, Events to lead these efforts with the Director.
The Events & Sponsorship team engages with all Ceres program teams on these efforts and works closely with the Communications and Marketing, Development, Operations, and teams. The Manager will report to the Director, Events & Sponsorship. This job offers an opportunity for an experienced, highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and energetic individual to engage with staff in all program areas of Ceres, interact with external constituents, and assume a supervisory role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on the execution of several events (i.e., webinars, the development of side events, and other potential events).
  • Lead coordination across the Events team and with Marketing and Communications to ensure all events are executed successfully.
  • Oversee the maintenance of master planning documents (i.e., project deadlines, speaker details, marketing deadlines, lodging deadlines, budget maintenance, etc.)
  • Oversee the production of virtual events, as needed, including, coaching speakers prior to their sessions.
  • Oversee onsite logistical activities for Ceres flagship events, other in-person, as needed. Including the management of:
  • Audio/visual elements, vendor elements, menu selection and execution,[AK1] etc.
  • Refine the processes related to events and meeting objectives.
  • Supervise employees or interns, as needed, to include training, conducting performance reviews, and providing guidance and support with professional development.
  • Support the development of goals, success metrics, and general messaging for events.
  • Track outcomes and metrics related to the impact of events across Ceres for the purpose of measurement and evaluation.
  • Work closely with Events and Sponsorship Director on programmatic development of flagship events.
  • Work with individual teams to develop a plan for their event(s).
  • Provide training to Ceres team members, as it relates to the management of event platforms (Zoom and Bizzabo, as examples) and other event related elements, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Five years or more of direct experience planning and managing large scale, complex, multi-day events.
  • Knowledge of virtual events and virtual event platforms such as Zoom and Bizzabo.
  • Demonstrated strong project management, planning skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Successful record of organizing multiple projects, engaging with senior-level professionals, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take a collaborative approach to working across the organization.
  • Planning and prioritization skills with the ability to make adjustments and still deliver projects on deadline and within time and resource budgets.
  • Self-starter focused on execution, with ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to make strong connections between sustainability issues and articulate the impacts and implications for corporate and investor audiences.
  • Experience supervising staff, including ability to provide training and support staff development.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues, a plus.
  • Strong speaking and written communication skills for external and internal audiences.
  • Effective presentation and writing style as well
  • Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills, strong initiative and motivation.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to accomplish duties noted above.
  • Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail computer applications.

Compensation: The hiring salary is $75,000 to $77,000 and pairs with competitive benefits.
