CGP: Staff Accountant
Our client is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a driven and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, a thorough knowledge of GAAP, advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs, as well as proficiency in with large-scale accounting computer software (GL, Fixed Assets, etc.). The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, assisting with the annual audit process, and performing various cash management activities, among other duties. - Manage the monthly close calendar to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
- Assist with the annual audit process, including responding to audit inquiries, preparing or reviewing requested schedules, testing internal controls, and preparing financial statements
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts accurately and on time
- Perform various cash management activities, including reviewing bank reconciliations and journal entries related to banking transactions, monthly rent sweep returns, stripe fees, property/entity cash roll up, etc.
- Verify and record monthly lender waterfall proceeds, including interest payment and various reserve account funding for all securitized loans within the portfolio
- Initiate book and wire transfers
- Submit property tax reimbursements
- Help establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls
- Analyze transactions and account balances to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all GL accounts
- Coordinate with departments to obtain necessary information for the close process
- Analyze trends in income and expenses in comparison to historical data and budget and prepare variance explanations
- Take ownership of monthly financial statements for TLR
- Support Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting with requests for information from partners, auditors, and many constituents across the organization
- Perform back-up duties as necessary
- Work on special projects and analyses as directed by management
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient in large-scale accounting computer software (GL, Fixed Assets, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; proficient in other Microsoft Office programs
