Climate change is the defining challenge of this century, and healthcare is both a victim of climate change and a major contributor to it. The Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM) at the National University of Singapore works at the frontier of policy, clinical systems, and global health to accelerate the transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient health systems across Asia and worldwide.

Purpose of the Post

We invite applications for a Policy and Impact Officer to support the shaping and strategic presentation of CoSM’s research and implementation into high-impact and public-facing materials and outputs.

The postholder will work across the Centre’s major workstreams - including health system carbon analytics, clinical transformation, and education - ensuring that technical research is converted into clear, decision-ready outputs that support policymakers, clinicians, partners, and other stakeholders.

This is a cross-cutting role at the interface of research, policy, and implementation. The successful candidate will help strengthen CoSM’s regional and global presence by supporting impact products, stakeholder engagement processes, and community-building initiatives that strengthen the Centre’s visibility, credibility and influence.

Key Responsibilities include:

1) Research translation and impactful storytelling

  • Translate technical research outputs (e.g., emissions baselines, economic analyses, adaptation and mitigation frameworks or plans, analytic tools) into briefs, executive summaries, implementation guides, and high-quality outputs that strengthen the Centre’s regional and global presence.
  • Develop accessible summaries and synthesis materials tailored to different stakeholder groups (ministries, hospital leaders, clinicians, finance stakeholders, and learners).
  • Support the strategic positioning of CoSM’s flagship initiatives - including health system baselining, the Lancet MedZero, Masters of Science and Executive Fellowship programmes. Ensure consistency in tone, clarity and visual hierarchy across written, digital and presentation materials.
  • Prepare high-level briefing materials, slide decks, and concept notes for international events, multilateral engagements, and partner discussions.
  • Shape and refine integrated narrative frameworks that communicate CoSM’s strategic value and differentiation.

2) Policy engagement and community building

  • Support the development and coordination of communities of practice across Asia-Pacific and globally, particularly in areas such as net zero healthcare, climate-resilient health systems, and health system decarbonisation.
  • Facilitate structured dialogues, workshops, events and convenings that strengthen relationships with clinicians, policymakers, system leaders, and partners.
  • Maintain stakeholder mapping and engagement pipelines to ensure continuity and deepening of partnerships over time.
  • Contribute to strategies that expand the reach and participation of priority stakeholder groups in CoSM initiatives and programmes.

3) Capacity development programme support

  • Translate research and implementation experience into structured materials that strengthen the positioning and uptake of CoSM’s education programmes.
  • Identify and develop narrative angles to craft into long-form and short-form outputs that position CoSM favourably to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development of programme briefs, case examples, learner-facing materials, and impact narratives derived from real-world projects.
  • Contribute to outreach and engagement initiatives that build prospective learner pipelines and strengthen participation across regions.
  • Track engagement indicators related to education activities and support refinement of programme positioning based on insights.
  • Ensure coherence between the Centre’s research portfolio and its educational offerings, reinforcing the Centre’s identity as a leading authority in sustainable healthcare.

4) Monitoring, reporting, and strategic support

  • Support the maintenance and continuous refinement of the Centre’s knowledge platforms to ensure accuracy, relevance, and accessibility of publicly facing materials.
  • Maintain structured tracking of programme outputs, engagement metrics, and impact indicators.
  • Contribute to concept development for new initiatives and proposals, including synthesis of evidence and articulation of strategic positioning.
  • Support continuous refinement of how CoSM presents its work to external audiences to strengthen influence and credibility.

Qualifications

Essential

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in research translation, policy-facing roles, stakeholder engagement, programme coordination, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical material into clear, structured, and compelling outputs for varied audiences.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills, strong editorial judgment.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Ability to identify opportunities and creative problem-solving skills in reframing complex issues for different stakeholder groups.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders

Highly desirable

  • A strong appreciation for how narrative and storytelling, timing, and stakeholder context influence policy traction and programme participation.
  • Experience working with governments, multilateral organisations, or large health systems.
  • Familiarity with climate, sustainability, or health system transformation agendas.
  • Experience supporting regional or international partnerships.
  • Experience working at the interface of research, policy, and implementation.
