Manager Government Affairs
Position Summary
The Manager Government Affairs will be responsible for formulating and implementing the company’s government relations and public policy strategies. Serving as a crucial bridge between the company and government entities, industry associations, policy think tanks, and regulatory bodies, this role aims to build long-term trusted relationships, monitor and analyze policy developments, secure regulatory support, mitigate policy risks, and enable overall business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and execute mid-term to long-term government affairs strategies and implementation plans aligned with business priorities; identify policy opportunities and compliance risks to advise senior management.
- Relationship Management: Establish and expand strong communication channels and trusted partnerships with key national/local government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Policy Monitoring & Advocacy: Continuously track, evaluate, and interpret industry-related regulations, legislative developments, and policy trends. Actively represent the company in industry associations and policy roundtables to shape regulatory discussions, both Germany- and EU- level.
- Crisis & Compliance Management: Collaborate with internal teams to navigate policy-related regulatory shifts, public crises, or governmental inquiries to protect company reputation and compliance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal business and operation teams to align business practices with evolving regulatory and legislative requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Law, or an Engineering/Technical discipline (e.g., Electronics, Renewable Energy, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering).
- Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in government affairs, public policy, trade associations, or relevant government agencies. Proven track record in a multinational company or major industry player preferred.
- Policy & Industry Expertise: In-depth understanding of governmental processes, policy-making mechanisms, and industry frameworks. (An engineering background combined with policy knowledge is highly valued for technical policy alignment).
- Network & Track Record: Strong professional network within relevant government bodies and trade associations; demonstrated success in policy advocacy and securing government backing/subsidies.
- Languages: Business fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; native in the German for official drafting and high-level dialogue; Chinese/French/Spain/Hungarian/Italian would be a plus.
- AM/B/L Driver licenses
