Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Procurement Operations and Sustainability

Shape Cathay’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) sourcing strategy for Hong Kong International Airport and the outports, helping secure future supply in a market that is strategically important to aviation and sustainability. Based in Hong Kong within Procurement and Aircraft Trading, you will define and implement sourcing approaches, assess market trends and lead engagement with producers, suppliers, resellers, regulatory authorities and industry bodies.

This is a role for someone who combines procurement and category management discipline with commercial judgement, technical curiosity and confidence in senior stakeholder environments. You will conduct due diligence on potential SAF supply sources, negotiate across a developing market and act as a focal point for SAF matters, including the development of supply chain opportunities in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Your work will help Cathay strengthen its position in the SAF supply market while raising performance standards across the Procurement and Aircraft Trading (APD) community. Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) sourcing strategy for Hong Kong International Airport and Outports
  • Conduct market analysis and identify trends that may have positive or negative impacts on the future supply of SAF
  • Conduct due diligence on potential sources of SAF supply and lead negotiations with producers, suppliers, resellers and other stakeholder groups in the SAF market
  • Develop and manage senior relationships with key suppliers, regulatory authorities and industry bodies such as IATA.
  • Effectively manage key stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Drive high performance culture and standards among the Procurement and Aircraft Trading (APD) community

Requirements

  • 5 years' relevant experience. University graduate in economics or related discipline
  • Procurement and Category Management experience is essential
  • Knowledge on fuel components/particles certification as well as basic technical knowledge of the different production pathways for SAF
  • Knowledge of climate science, climate related regulatory requirements, would be of advantage
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and basic contract law
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strong commercial acumen and good understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Ability to inspire, and build trust and respect among the APD community.
  • Excellent people skills; including the ability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to build a strong network and secure Cathay’s position in the SAF supply market
  • Demonstrated ability to define and implement strategies.
