Role Introduction

The Sustainability Specialist – Climate Change and Commercial sits under the Group Sustainability Department mainly responsible for supporting the effective delivery and integrity of Cathay’s sustainability and climate initiatives. You will be focusing on robust, compliant and efficient Sustainable Aviation Fuel operations, while supporting climate action work through research and analysis. You will also be responsible for enabling effective cross-departmental collaboration and the smooth functioning of the

Group Sustainability Department.

This is a 3-Year contract position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and day-to-day operation of Cathay’s Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme and Business-to-Consumer Sustainable Aviation Fuel programmes
  • Support robust, compliant and high-integrity Sustainable Aviation Fuel operations, working closely with the Climate Change Lead and other team members from the Group Sustainability Department, Sustainable Aviation Fuel Procurement and Finance teams, including supporting data verification, invoice processes, transaction tracking, Sustainable Aviation Fuel certificate handling, financial reconciliation and associated documentation, in line with established processes, governance and controls
  • Support ongoing projects within the Climate Action team, including research, data collection and analysis related to sustainable aviation fuel, climate policy, climate risks and other key climate topics
  • Help coordinate and prepare materials for key meetings, events, workshops and training sessions
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for cross-departmental initiatives and the broader Group Sustainability Department

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in sustainability, climate change, environmental management, aviation and/or relevant disciplines
  • Sound understanding of sustainability and climate change topics, and their relevance to the commercial aviation sector
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience supporting data collection, data management and analysis to inform decision-making
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with datasets, reports and documentation. Experience in supporting environmental compliance activities is a plus
  • Strong collaboration, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team across functions
  • Proactive and motivated, with a genuine interest in sustainability and climate action and a willingness to learn in a fast-evolving field
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an advantage
