We are seeking a Summer Intern for the Fresh Coast team that will be focused on delivering outcomes that directly contribute to team and business goals. The Fresh Coast interns play a crucial role in helping the organization advance its Climate/Carbon, Water/Nature, and Sustainability solutions. As an intern, you will assist internal teams by conducting research relevant to evolving climate issues, conduct technical analyses, and synthesize information into summaries that can be clearly communicated to clients, making this a great opportunity to develop your consulting skills and work on real-world client projects.

About The Internship
We recognize that gaining real world experience can help build a strong foundation for future career growth. The intern will work on projects that matter, while being challenged academically and professionally. We’ll provide the tools, support, and mentorship each step of the way. The intern will be paired with an experienced engineer, who will provide training and coaching, and help manage work assignments. The intern will also have the opportunity to engage with a variety of people on our engineering team, which may include job shadowing, department meetings, and technical trainings.

- Take initiative in contributing to project deliverables by organizing data, drafting content, and refining outputs based on team feedback to ensure high-quality, timely contributions that help the team meet client expectations and project goals.
- Approach research with curiosity and rigor, using credible sources and analytical tools to uncover insights relevant to climate and sustainability challenges.
- Manages project workflow, timelines, and accuracy of data to build trust with the team and ensure that project outputs are dependable and professional.
- Participate in meetings, ask thoughtful questions, and offer support while being open to feedback in order to foster a collaborative environment where learning and shared success are prioritized.
We seek candidates with a strong desire and ability to learn, a passion for engineering, and a willingness to work hard. Additional criteria include:
- Working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree for engineering or recently graduated.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities demonstrated by educational or other work experience.
- Ability to work independently, as well as under the guidance of others.
- Basic project management and organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
Compensation & Details
The internship provides:
- 20 hours per week for 8 weeks, with the potential for more hours, but will not reach 40/hrs. per week. The hourly pay rate is $25/hr.
- Exact dates can be flexible, but the 8 weeks would likely fall between May to August.
- A flexible schedule to accommodate student’s other activities.
- This is a hybrid in-person and remote role. We hope to be in-person at the Portland, Oregon office as much as possible, but a partially remote candidate could be considered. A laptop will be provided for the duration of the internship.
