Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Thermal Engineer based in Kanpur, with flexibility for some remote work. The Thermal Engineer will work on designing, analyzing, and managing thermal systems for cutting-edge refrigeration solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting thermal analysis, optimizing heat transfer processes, and ensuring effective thermal management. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to address engineering challenges and improve product efficiency will be a key aspect of this role.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Thermal Analysis, Heat Transfer, and Thermal Management
- Expertise in Thermal System Design and Thermal Engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills specific to thermal systems
- Familiarity with simulation software and tools for thermal analysis
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum Experience of 3 years in refrigeration or cold chain logistics solutions is a plus
M.Tech in one of the following areas:
- Thermal Engineering
- Thermodynamics
- Heat Transfer
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- HVAC
- Mechanical Engineering with strong thermal systems focus
Scope of Work:
You will contribute to the thermal and refrigeration architecture of Carrus Mobility’s climate-controlled container systems.
The work may involve:
- Refrigeration system understanding and performance improvement
- Heat exchanger selection, sizing, and performance evaluation
- Cooling load estimation for insulated containers
- Thermal behaviour of refrigeration containers under different operating conditions
- Airflow, ducting, and temperature distribution inside the container
- Insulation performance, especially for PUF / PIR-based assemblies
- Evaporator, condenser, compressor, and fan system integration
- Thermal validation during prototype and field testing
- Coordination with mechanical, electronics, and control teams for system-level performance
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration
- Understanding of heat exchangers, cooling cycles, and thermal losses
- Ability to work with practical design constraints in real hardware systems
- Interest in cold-chain logistics, climate-tech, clean energy, and manufacturing
- Comfort with calculations, testing, validation, and engineering iteration
- Ability to coordinate with mechanical design, vendors, and prototype teams
- Project, thesis, or internship work related to heat exchangers, HVAC, refrigeration, or cold storage systems
- Exposure to CFD or thermal simulation tools
- Experience with cooling load calculations
- Understanding of insulated container design
- Hands-on work with refrigeration systems, compressor-based systems, or thermal test setups
Pay will be between 6LPA to 8LPA (depending on work experience and skills) with performance linked incentives
