About The Role

As a Category Manager – Packaging, you will lead the global sourcing strategy for the packaging category, driving supplier performance, innovation, and cost competitiveness across Carrier's business. Working closely with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, you will develop long-term supplier partnerships, support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, and ensure a resilient, high-performing supply base that enables business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Category Manager – Packaging, You'll Be Responsible For

  • Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy and technology roadmap for the packaging category, aligning supplier capabilities with business objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, and strategic sourcing activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects while managing the approved supplier portfolio.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate long-term supply agreements, and drive continuous cost optimization initiatives.
  • Identify supply chain risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging packaging technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Operations to support innovation, supplier performance, and long-term business growth.

As a Minimum You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or Procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and sourcing strategies for direct materials or packaging categories.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced English communication skills with the ability to work in a global environment and willingness to travel to supplier locations.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience managing global packaging categories or packaging materials such as corrugated, plastics, foam, labels, or protective packaging.
  • Knowledge of supplier risk management, total cost of ownership (TCO), and cost reduction methodologies.
  • Experience working with global manufacturing organizations and international supplier networks.
