The Role

The Sustainability Project Officer supports the Sustainability Officer in delivering Orange City Council’s strategic and operational sustainability objectives. This role contributes to Council’s efforts to address climate change, environmental stewardship, and community resilience through:

• Assisting with the delivery of sustainability and climate programs across Council operations and the community
• Supporting investigations and implementation of water, waste, and energy efficiency initiatives
• Facilitating collaboration across Council divisions, government agencies, and the public on environmental matters
• Supporting the management and delivery of sustainability projects, education programs, and behaviour change initiatives
• Providing administrative and stakeholder support to the Environmental Sustainability Community Committee
• Assisting in the development of sustainability policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with Ecologically Sustainable Development principles

About You

• Diploma qualifications in Science, Education, Project Management or similar
• Relevant experience in a similar role
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse community stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
• Current Drivers Licence
