What You'll Do
As our Bushland Field Officer, you will report to the Coordinator Bushland and Biosecurity and play a key role in delivering bush regeneration activities to improve, restore, and maintain Wingecarribee Shire Council’s natural assets.
In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and management of over 3,000 hectares of natural bushland within Wingecarribee Shire. This includes applying industry-standard practices for weed control, conducting trail maintenance, and undertaking mapping and monitoring of natural areas.
You will also work closely with environmental volunteers, coordinating and leading weekly working bees while providing on-site supervision to ensure safe and productive activities on Council managed land.
This position supports the delivery of Council’s Environment and Climate Change Strategy and the Waste and Environmental Sustainability Branch Business Plan. You will operate within established standards, making best use of available resources while adhering to Council policies, procedures, and codes of practice.

- Certificate III Conservation & Ecosystem Management or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience in a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking bush regeneration activities, including proficiency in the safe handling of power tools and equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters as well as the application of chemicals for weed control
- Ability to effectively use technology, including mobile and desktop applications.
- Strong customer service skills and experience interacting with the public, including working with volunteers.
- Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles.
- Current NSW Class C driver's license, WHS Induction card, Chainsaw 1 Certificate, AQF 3 Chemical Accreditation and current First Aid Certificate.
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Hold a current Working with Children's Check or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
