Job Description

About Carbon Equity

Carbon Equity is a digital wealth platform that seeks to mobilise private capital at a scale of billions to help solve the world’s biggest challenges, starting with climate change. We do so by democratising access to impact driven alternative investments such as venture capital and private equity. Founded in Amsterdam, we combine a strong culture of impact, high performance, and innovation with a deep commitment to building a values-driven organization. As we scale, we are looking for ambitious, mission-aligned talent to help us accelerate the global transition to a net-zero economy.

Purpose of the role

The Operations Architect ensures Carbon Equity can scale fast and effectively. You build the operational backbone that allows every team to work smoothly, reliably, and independently.

This role frees the COO from day-to-day operational problem solving by reducing manual work, tightening workflows, improving data quality, and preventing the organisation from relying on ad hoc guidance or senior intervention.

Role Summary

You design how work flows across Carbon Equity. You improve processes, automate repetitive tasks, clean up data structures, and ensure onboarding, closings, reporting, and compliance run consistently.

You work closely with our in-house Tech team to embed improvements directly into our platform and internal tooling. You translate operational needs into clear product requests, support prioritisation, and help build automation and workflow improvements into our own architecture.

You are not here to run operations. You are here to upgrade them. You collaborate intensively with the Investor Operations, Finance, Legal/Risk, Product/Tech, Investments and People & Culture teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve how work flows across teams

Map current workflows and redesign them so they are clear, reliable, and easy to follow. Remove bottlenecks, reduce handovers, and help teams execute faster with less friction.

  • Reduce manual work through automation

Identify repetitive tasks and replace them with automation using existing and new tools (HubSpot, Django, Google Workspace, Notion, Zapier, GPT where relevant).

Collaborate with the Tech team to build more structural workflow improvements directly into our platform and back-office systems.

  • Improve data quality and accessibility

Create a clean, consistent data structure that removes the need for stitching spreadsheets and exports. Define how data flows, how it is updated, and who owns it. Ensure teams always work with accurate information.

  • Build clear and searchable documentation

Turn operational knowledge into simple, practical playbooks. Create checklists, templates, and how-to guides that help new and existing team members run recurring processes without relying on tacit knowledge.

  • Strengthen reporting and visibility

Build light, automated dashboards or trackers to give leadership and teams real-time visibility on progress. Reduce manual report building and data chasing.

  • Support regulatory and compliance workflows

Help structure recurring AFM, DNB, and DORA obligations so they run predictably. Prepare templates, organise inputs, and ensure deadlines and requirements are always clear and met on time.

  • Drive cross-functional improvement projects

Own small and medium operational improvement projects end-to-end. Bring clarity, pace, and follow-through. Ensure changes are implemented consistently and deliver visible improvements.

  • Partner with the tech team for structural solutions

Work Hand-in-hand With The In-house Tech Team To

  • translate operational pain points into clear product requests
  • help prioritise improvements based on business impact
  • design workflows that can be built into our platform
  • ensure technical changes reflect how teams actually work

You bridge operations and product/engineering to ensure our tooling becomes simpler, faster, and more automated over time.

Success in this role (12 Months)

  • Manual work in core processes reduced by 50% or more
  • COO no longer needed to solve daily operational issues
  • Onboarding, closings, reporting, and compliance run predictably
  • Data is clean, structured, and accessible without extra work
  • Reporting is automated and always up to date
  • Workflows and responsibilities are clear and documented
  • New joiners ramp quickly due to strong documentation
  • Product/Tech improvements reflect real operational needs and generate measurable efficiency gains

Why this role matters

Carbon Equity is expanding it’s product offering into full wealth proposition within alternative assets while maintaining a lean team. Our ability to scale depends on strong workflows, clean data, and a culture of continuous improvement.

The Operations Architect builds the underlying engine that ensures we can grow quickly, confidently, and sustainably — while enabling leadership to focus on strategic priorities rather than operational fire-fighting.

Job requirements

Who We’re Looking For – Must-have

  • Strong in process redesign, workflow optimisation, and practical automation
  • Able to simplify complexity into clear, usable workflows
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Comfortable coordinating across Operations, Finance, Legal/Risk, Product/Tech, Investments and People
  • Analytical, structured, and able to drive progress without needing hierarchy

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in regulated or finance-heavy environments
  • Familiarity with CRMs, admin platforms, and (AI) automation tools
  • Experience working with product or engineering teams
  • Exposure to fund operations or financial operating processes and workflows

You will thrive if you…

  • Prefer fixing root causes over firefighting
  • Enjoy improving workflows and removing unnecessary steps
  • Communicate clearly, directly, and pragmatically
  • Bring calm structure, even when things change quickly
  • Get energy from enabling teams to work faster and independently

  • Hybrid work culture, with at least three days per week in the Amsterdam office.
  • 25 holiday days (full-time contract) and bi-annual company offsites.
  • Full-time (40 hours), in-house role.
