Production Operator 


Carba is working to mitigate the worst effects of climate change by permanently removing billions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We have developed an innovative process that involves the pyrolysis of biomass waste to create charcoal/biochar (solid carbon) that is buried underground where it is stable for thousands to millions of years.

Candidates must be comfortable with automated manufacturing systems, performing under pressure, working on physical equipment outside, and thriving as part of a team. Technician Job Responsibilities:

  • Reactor/kiln Operations
  • Operate reactor kiln(s) that converts woodchips into charcoal/biochar
  • Assist engineering team with assembly, disassembly, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, experimentation, and more
  • Site operations
  • Moving piles of biomass (e.g., woodchips) and charcoal with conveyors
  • Loading semi-trailers using a front-end loader
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workplace
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
  • Interacting with suppliers making deliveries
  • Assist operations team with SOP’s and documentation
  • Other projects as assigned by Carba leadership


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
  • Experience with large equipment handling and design
  • Ideally experience with pyrolysis reactor development, or similar reactors
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical/mechanical problems
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, thrives in small team environment, likes challenges, accountable, looking for growth
  • Works independently. Detailed knowledge of controls systems, including remote monitoring of sites.Performs preventative maintenance.


  • 2-6 years experience. $25-$28 hourly with overtime opportunities.


  • OSHA 10 a plus


  • In the future, travel up to 10% of the time
