About The Role:
They are seeking a practical and reliable Production Operative to support day-to-day manufacturing activities at their pilot production site. This role is central to scaling operations while maintaining high standards in safety, efficiency, and product quality.
Working closely with the Production Lead, you’ll operate machinery, process materials, monitor product quality, and help refine processes as the organisation moves toward greater automation and commercial scale. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a sustainability-focused operation at an early stage of growth.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment to produce fiberboard-based materials to specification.
- Prepare, load, and process raw materials safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine quality checks to ensure consistent performance and finish.
- Assist with machine setup, calibration, and basic maintenance activities.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contributing to improvements as processes evolve.
- Handle, package, and store materials using correct manual handling techniques.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in line with site protocols.
- Identify and report equipment issues or safety concerns at the earliest opportunity.
- Support continuous improvement and production optimisation initiatives.
- Work collaboratively to achieve daily and weekly output targets.
Skills & Experience:
- Confident operating machinery, hand tools, and power tools in a workshop or industrial environment (required).
- Physically comfortable lifting, carrying, and working with raw materials for extended periods (required).
- Strong awareness of safe working practices, PPE usage, and manual handling (required).
- Hands-on experience in production, woodworking, metalwork, construction, fabrication, or similar trades (preferred).
- Familiarity with batch production or assembly-line environments (preferred).
- Basic mechanical aptitude—comfortable adjusting or maintaining equipment with guidance (preferred).
Ideal Backgrounds Could Include:
- Joinery, carpentry, or furniture making.
- Metal fabrication or workshop environments.
- Construction trades or general site labour.
- Light industrial or materials processing roles.
