Role Overview for Director of Applications Engineering (Data Centers)
Wondering what your day-to-day could look like as our new Director of Applications (Data Centers) In this role, you will support the company leadership on the strategy, development, and commercialization of e-STORAGE's data center power offerings across the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe, UK, Middle East, Asia and Australia.
This individual will collaborate with customers, internal teams, and technology partners to deliver differentiated, integrated solutions that support the evolving energy needs of data centers globally.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Director of Applications Engineering (Data Centers)
Help define the product vision, roadmap, and go-to-market strategy for integrated power solutions using SolBank 3.0, PowerBlock, and best-in-class third-party systems (e.g., PCS, EMS, UPS, gensets, renewables)
Lead cross-functional development efforts in collaboration with equipment partners and internal engineering teams (e.g., EMS/control systems).
Champion product-market fit, including segmentation, use-case development, competitive benchmarking, and value proposition refinement. Own, refine, and evolve e-STORAGE Data Center power solution roadmap.
Engage directly with global customers—including hyperscalers, colocation providers, EPCs, and utilities/IPPs—to validate requirements and guide solution design.
Translate voice-of-customer insights (gathered through customer interactions, industry knowledge, and internal experience) into actionable product requirements in the form of Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), and technical specifications
Support business development and sales teams with positioning strategy, technical collateral, and sales enablement content.
Contribute to the architecture and evolution of e-STORAGE’s EMS platform and control strategy, with a focus on hybrid renewables + BESS for mission-critical applications.
Manage pilot projects to rapidly iterate, validate, and scale emerging solutions (e.g., BESS + genset hybrid systems).
Oversee Power Solutions-related certification processes, regulatory compliance, and safety standards across new and existing markets.
What We Are Looking For
10+ years of experience in product management, solution engineering, or technical leadership roles with at least 5 years in energy and power management.
Familiarity with PV solar integration and hybrid architecture for mission-critical and utility-scale applications.
Deep knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Energy Management Systems (EMS/PPC), and grid-interactive control strategies.
Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver zero-to-one product initiatives under ambiguous or evolving technical requirements.
Proven track record working with cross-functional teams and partners (e.g., EPCs, OEMs, developers) to define and commercialize innovative energy solutions.
Strong background in digital transformation initiatives, including control system design, data acquisition strategies, and analytics-enabled decision systems.
Excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to translate technical complexity into actionable strategies for both internal and external stakeholders.
Self-motivated, dependable, and effective in operating independently with minimal guidance in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
