Entity: Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing LLC (SSUM)

Location: Shelbyville, Kentucky

Position Summary:

This Specialist is responsible for General purchasing of General Indirect MRO materials or service such as Equipment, General Management Office Supplies, EHS Products and nonstock materials or products to support daily operation of our s-storage BU in Kentucky States U.S.A.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Purchase General products or materials to support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop a strategic general purchasing plan for assisting the team in meeting targets and the annual operating plan.
  • Support supply chain team. Stay updated on market changes and SSUM supply chain dynamics.
  • Oversee General Purchasing planning, forecasting, and optimization within internal cross functional teams to minimize stockouts and maximize inventory.
  • Manage and update SAP SRM ERP system data; investigate abnormal material usage.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor supplier performance and delivery reliability.
  • Lead new supplier development and maintain communication with current suppliers to meet production needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships and report issues to management.
  • Monitor and analyze vendor performance to meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Conduct GP cost evaluations for management review.
  • Support inbound/outbound departments by tracking deliveries and ensuring timely arrival.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within purchasing operations.
  • Collaborate GP members with cross-functional teams to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies in purchasing activities.
  • Utilize and manage SAP SRM for system control and daily operations.
  • Support ISO 9001 activities.
  • Participate in weekly planning and purchasing conference calls.
  • Take on additional tasks when departmental staff are absent.

  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, master’s degree preferred.
  • >3 years of Multinational Corporation manufacturing experience in Purchasing
  • Strong track records of successful Purchasing management improvement in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Experience in managing high mix low volume supply base.
  • Extensive experience with ERP environments, strong SAP SRM knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership qualities, and a proven ability to combine complex technical and business requirements to make difficult decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required. Bilingual Mandarin fluency is also required.
