Establish and maintains financial policies, fiscal controls, prepares financial reports and safeguards the organization's assess. Pays vendor invoices and receives and posts customer payments on a timely basis. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable/receivable ledger accounts, financial statements and reports. Prepares analyses and reconciliations of bill runs to detect fraud.Position Title: General Accountant

Description:
This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for the company. This role will perform a wide range of accounting related duties to ensure that financial results are reported on time on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Responsibilities:
- Process daily bank payments and prepare weekly cash balances report.
- Responsible for full-cycle Accounts Payable, monthly accruals and payroll booking.
- Prepare all of journal entries for daily accounting transactions.
- Manage inter-companies transactions and monthly reconciliations.
- Responsible for month-end closing.
- Perform balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
- Assist in monthly reporting packages, quarterly forecast and annual budget preparation.
- Prepare monthly HST/GST filing.
- Assist with internal and external audit queries.
- Perform government remittances and reporting.
- Assist with periodic Survey of Statistics Canada.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Code of Business Conduct.
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.
- 3+ years of progressive work experience in a full-cycle accounting function.
- CPA designation considered an asset.
- Experience with foreign currencies is desirable.
- SAP experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with excellent time management skills.
- Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
