Position Title: Field Training Specialist

Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a Field Training Specialist that will be responsible for both the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of project equipment at operational solar farms, as well as developing and coordinating in-house training programs for field technicians. This role requires a strong electrical/mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting techniques, and the ability to develop comprehensive training materials and programs. The successful candidate will work independently and within a team to achieve project uptime and production targets, while also driving a “best in class” training program.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Address daily project system issues to meet uptime goals.
Perform routine maintenance and determine necessary actions before escalating issues.
Diagnose and troubleshoot various project systems (inverters, switchgear, transformers, etc.).
Follow maintenance schedules and perform start-up tests on equipment.
Identify potential problems and suggest corrective actions.
Oversee and supervise sub-contractors.
Training and Development:
Develop Job Qualification Standards (JQS) for field technician levels.
Identify training needs, recommend and implement solutions, and evaluate effectiveness.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of a comprehensive training strategy aligned with business goals.
Design and develop training programs and curriculum, partnering with internal experts and external vendors.
Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating training effectiveness.
Continuously revise lesson plans to meet new training requirements and keep technical information up to date.
Provide operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting training to operators and others as needed.
Assist in developing standard operating documents for maintenance, operations, and training.
Work with maintenance team, sub-contractors, and other groups to improve system performance.
Ensure cross-functional communication to resolve plant issues.
Communicate effectively with a diverse group of team members to achieve individual, functional, and organizational goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
3+ years of field technician experience on a renewable energy project site preferred.
2-4 years of hands-on training experience, preferably in renewable energy.
Solar / BESS experience highly preferred; construction or EPC experience will be taken into consideration.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
College diploma/degree in Engineering Technology, or Engineering preferred, equivalent work experience will be considered.
Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Electrical background specifically in preventative and corrective maintenance preferred.
Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
High quality written and verbal communication skills, strong listening, interpersonal, and influencing skill
