With significant and continued population growth across the municipality, this key role is tasked with the delivery of high-quality services and programs to improve environmental sustainability across the Shire, to reduce Council’s environmental footprint and minimise risk and threats posed by climate change. The role will lead the introduction of Council’s FOGO service from July, working to ensure a smooth transition and high levels of community engagement.


Reporting to the Director Community Infrastructure and overseeing an engaged, high-performing team of 10, this role will develop strategies, plans and policies to promote environmental best practice within the Council and the community, and will effectively manage Council’s resource recovery operations across the municipality. The role will manage the delivery of high-quality environmental sustainability services that contribute towards building an environmentally sustainable shire, providing strategic and operational advice and direction to Council and responsive leadership to the team.


We are seeking applications from respected people leaders who bring a sound understanding and knowledge of the factors which are critical to an environmentally sustainable environment, with extensive knowledge of municipal procedures and operations of Local Government particularly procedures relating to waste management, land development, , town planning, procurement and relevant legislation applicable to these activities.


Applicants will bring tertiary qualification in an area of relevance to this role, such as environmental engineering, environmental science or similar, with demonstrable people management experience and practical knowledge and experience in the relevant areas of responsibility.
