Department Website: Job Description and Duties Under the direction of a Branch Chief, within the Division of Planning and Local Assistance, the Associate Transportation Planner is an interdisciplinary team member at a full journey level and works independently to perform difficult and complex planning projects. The role plans, develops, organizes, and directs activities that integrate social, economic, environmental, transportation, and land use factors to support the implementation of a balanced, multi‐modal state transportation program. Responsibilities include the planning, development, administration, evaluation, and monitoring of transportation plans, programs, contracts, and projects across a wide range of sub‐areas such as regional planning, corridor and system planning, community planning, state planning, freight planning, border planning, rail planning, transit planning, engagement, active transportation, health, climate change, air quality, program project planning, community engagement (including tribal partners), modeling, geospatial data analysis, and economics. Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. Describe your classroom training and/or professional experience related to urban and regional transportation systems, the transportation planning process, and principles of multimodal planning, development review, and transit planning. Include any experience with grant‐funded projects, program management, and budgeting. Discuss proficiency with computer software such as Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, Tableau, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Explain your experience building partnerships and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to address complex issues affecting the public or local communities. Include examples of effective communication with internal and external management. Describe your experience in planning and delivering projects, including evaluating the accuracy and completeness of studies and documents, applying logical reasoning, and making well‐supported recommendations. Include experience working collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple priorities, and meeting key milestones and deadlines. Explain your experience with data collection, data analysis, and preparing written reports. Describe your experience balancing and tracking multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Include examples of how you have maintained communication with external agencies and members of the public.
