CALSTART has an opening for a highly motivated candidate to join our team as a Project Manager I in the Midwest Region. This position will support the Midwest Regional Director with managing high-impact clean transportation projects with a particular focus on the transit market. In this role, the candidate will leverage their interpersonal, project management, and clean transportation skills.
Additionally, the Project Manager will:

  • Support projects focused on zero-emission transportation with a focus on our transit-based activities keeping the projects to budget, on schedule, and within cost
  • Execute project-based activities defined by contracts and statements of work, as well as support activities that further CALSTART's mission such as developing knowledge products, deliverables, key tools, and products
  • Manage stakeholder outreach and maintain stakeholder relations to grow and foster our network. Activities may also include organizing working groups, supporting industry conferences, and other CALSTART events
  • Develop working relationships and identify new development opportunities with CALSTART's regional and national teams

**Remote hires located in the Midwest region of the United States will be considered.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Environmental Science, related field or relevant work experience in other related fields or equivalent years of experience
  • Experience managing and supporting projects from conception to closeout with experience in working in the public transit industry
  • Understanding of transportation electrification, energy efficiency, sustainability, advanced transportation technologies, and alternative fuels
  • Excellent organizational skills including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience coordinating and communicating information and key metrics across a large portfolio of projects
  • Ability to create, manage and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience with developing effective strategies to support direct outreach, print collateral & promotional communications, online communications
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Certifications such as PMP
  • Experience developing requests for proposals (RFPs) and securing government-based funding opportunities
  • Experience working with transit bus operations, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and energy storage solutions
