Job Description And Duties
Are you passionate about tackling climate change and building a resilient, circular economy in California—one that views waste as a valuable resource? If so, CalRecycle is looking for an Analyst I to support programs that advance California’s climate and sustainability goals.
Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst I will perform the more complex duties associated with the administration of the Department’s Used Oil Certified Collection Center (CCC) Program related to the review and analysis of re-refined and incentive payment claims for the CCC, Industrial Generator (IG), and Curbside Programs. The Analyst I will also perform various grant management duties associated with the administration of the Department’s Circular Economy grant programs.
Key responsibilities include researching, reviewing, analyzing, and processing certification applications, used oil incentive claims, and contaminated oil reimbursement applications. Managing a variety of duties related to the administration of CalRecycle’s Circular Economy grant programs. This position is part of a department-wide team responsible for implementing programs under the California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act, SB 1383, and the Five-Year Plan for the Waste Tire Recycling Management Program. Grant Management duties include managing and monitoring grant proposals and projects, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to continuous program improvement.
This position may serve as a Program Lead and requires strong project management, communication, and analytical skills. Occasional travel—including overnight travel up to 15% annually—may be required and could affect the employee’s work schedule.
A valid California Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Applicants must provide their CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements or restrictions on their application. Failure to maintain a valid CDL will result in disqualification from the position.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need.
