California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Energy Economist within the Energy Assessments Division (EAD). Our next Energy Economist will support energy forecasting, policy making and energy planning in the Transportation Energy Forecasting Unit (TEFU) of the Advanced Electrification Analysis Branch. Energy Economist will serve as a highly skilled practitioner and innovator conducting research and analysis to evaluate and monitor the transportation sector and forecast the impacts of California’s zero-emission vehicle policies. The Energy Economist will conduct complex analysis of economic and transportation data and provide feedback to staff on multiple transportation sector models. Energy Assessments Division (EAD) assesses California’s electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the state’s decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals. ** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting. Experience identifying, collecting, storing data, and developing economic forecasts related to energy or transportation demand and technology.
