Salary: $12,562 - $15,724 per month plus state pension plan.

Are you an Oil & Gas industry professional looking to make a change? Are you excited about shaping Californias clean energy future? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Natural Gas Unit Supervisor in the Fuels Analysis Branch of the Energy Assessments Division (EAD).

Our Natural Gas Unit Supervisor will lead a multidisciplinary team analyzing natural gas systems, market dynamics, and the states transition toward decarbonization. This role is perfect for a mission-driven leader ready to make a statewide impact across energy reliability, policy, and infrastructure.

Energy Assessments Division (EAD) assesses Californias electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the states decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals.

** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience supervising a technical program or other analytic function.
  • A broad understanding of the states energy policies, and their impact on energy demand and the states electricity system.
  • Familiarity with various modeling methods for scenario modeling such as, for example, econometric modeling and/or end-use engineering models.
  • Experience with programing/coding in Python, R, SAS, or similar programs, and experience with spreadsheet and/or database software, such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid experience with project management techniques.
  • Ability to build a team and direct, motivate, and earn the respect of staff.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict, and to productively collaborate and exchange ideas with individuals whose analysis may represent difficult conclusions or contrary opinion.
  • Ability to professionally represent the Division in meetings and/or workshops with agencies, interest groups/public as well as public meetings, conferences, and hearings.
  • Ability to effectively write, review, and edit technical program information.
  • Ability to gather, compile, analyze, interpret and communicate written and numerical research data.
