Business Analyst IT II – Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Position Summary:

The IT Business Analyst II serves as the primary liaison between business teams and IT, supporting reporting, analysis, troubleshooting, and business process improvement initiatives. This role is heavily focused on SQL-based reporting support, issue resolution, and understanding business operations across multiple functional areas.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical thinking with communication and business partnership skills. This is not a “heads-down” data role — the team needs someone who can investigate problems, communicate findings, work directly with stakeholders, and think critically through reporting discrepancies and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full reporting lifecycle, including:
  • Gathering business requirements
  • Developing and modifying SQL queries
  • Supporting and troubleshooting reports
  • Delivering reporting solutions to end users
  • Serve as the main IT/business interface for assigned business groups.
  • Analyze business processes and partner with stakeholders to identify solutions.
  • Investigate reporting discrepancies and data issues (example: determining why two reports do not match).
  • Create ad hoc and one-time reports for business users (approximately 85–95% of workload).
  • Support both functional and technical reporting needs across various business areas.
  • Participate in project implementations to understand operational impacts and support business adoption.
  • Work with business leaders and IT teams on prioritization, planning, and support activities.
  • Collaborate with developers and technical teams to ensure efficient system design, implementation, and support.
  • Maintain strong customer satisfaction through communication, problem resolution, and adherence to service expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • OR 4 years of related business experience in lieu of degree.
  • 1–3 years of experience in business systems analysis, IT support, or related areas.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on SQL development, troubleshooting, and support experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting or technical solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with business users, leadership, IT teams, and cross-functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL reporting and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting/visualization tools.
  • Exposure to enterprise reporting and analytics environments.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and support multiple functional areas within the business.
