Test Coordinator - Nuclear Turbine Controls Upgrade
Job Description
Location: Onsite at Nuclear Power Plant
Outage Requirement: Must be available for 12-hour shifts during outage periods
Per Diem: Available for qualified non-local candidates
**Please note this is an open ended contract, 1 year term**
Test Procedure (TP) Coordinator – Nuclear Turbine Controls Upgrade
EM is seeking an experienced Test Procedure (TP) Coordinator to support a high-visibility Turbine and MSR Controls Upgrade Project at a nuclear facility. This role is critical to safely and successfully executing Temporary Test Procedures (TTPs) as the plant replaces legacy turbine and moisture separator reheat control systems with a new Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS) platform.
The TTP Coordinator serves as a key technical liaison between Design Engineering, Scheduling, Operations, and Implementation teams, ensuring procedures are accurate, compliant, and executed with precision during the outage window.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Temporary Test Procedures
- Review, validate, and refine TTPs supporting post-modification testing for the turbine and MSR controls upgrade.
- Verify technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with plant standards and nuclear procedures.
- Partner with Design Engineering to resolve comments, corrections, and clarifications.
- Lead tabletop reviews with engineering and operations to ensure clear, executable procedures.
- Coordinate Schedule & Outage Readiness
- Provide planning input for TTP duration, dependencies, predecessors/successors, and sequence.
- Work closely with Scheduling and project leadership to align procedure availability with outage milestones and resource plans.
- Support Operations & Risk Management
- Assist in developing Infrequently Performed Test or Evolution (IPTE) documentation.
- Support risk assessments and mitigation strategies tied to test execution.
- Participate in pre-job briefs, safety reviews, and planning meetings.
- Lead During Outage Execution
- Act as the primary facilitator for TTP execution during the outage.
- Ensure the team understands prerequisites, hold points, and expected results.
- Provide real-time coordination with engineering SMEs and operations to resolve issues while maintaining procedural integrity.
- Maintain a strong field presence and reinforce nuclear safety culture and compliance at all times.
Project Snapshot
This role supports a major controls modernization on Unit 2 Main Turbine and Moisture Separator Reheater (MSR), including:
- Replacement of internals for Turbine Control System (TCS) cabinets and MSR control cabinets
- Installation of redundant LVDTs on throttle and governor valves
- Installation of redundant megawatt transducers
- Upgrades to Main Control Room panels, controls, and workstations
This is a high-impact project requiring strong attention to detail, nuclear safety focus, and disciplined execution.
What We’re Looking For
- Preferred: Former Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license at a PWR
- Strong background in nuclear plant operations, testing, or outage execution
- Experience supporting or coordinating complex testing, modification, or startup activities
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, test procedures, and plant system documentation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and technical writing skills
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours (including 12-hour shifts) during outages
- Demonstrated commitment to nuclear safety culture and strict procedural compliance
Schedule & Compensation
- 12-hour shift commitment required during outage periods
- Per diem available for qualified non-local candidates
