The Sustainability and Risk Specialist will play an important role within the Safety and Sustainability Division providing specialist support to the Head of Risk and Compliance Reporting. Working closely with the Sustainability Senior Manager and colleagues across the organisation the successful candidate will contribute to sustainability reporting, risk management data analysis and regulatory compliance, supporting the delivery of the Bus Éireann Sustainability Strategy and ensuring compliance with national and European sustainability and risk reporting requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support the Head of Risk and Compliance Reporting in meeting sustainability reporting obligations under the CSRD and Climate Action Framework and relevant legislation.
  • Assist in preparing and publishing the annual Bus Éireann Sustainability Bulletin Report, reporting progress against Bus Éireann’s Sustainability Strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out additional risk assessment and emergency plan enhancement to support Bus Éireann’s compliance with the Critical Entity Resilience directive (CERD), as a designated Critical Entity by the NTA.
  • Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the Bus Éireann Sustainability Management System.
  • Maintain and support the Company's sustainability risk management framework, including identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the cross-functional Sustainability Working Group, Data Analytics and other business functions to deliver sustainability objectives and ensure accurate sustainability data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in communicating sustainability reporting systems, policies and risk management principles across the organisation.
  • Prepare benchmarking reports comparing Bus Éireann's sustainability, risk and critical entity planning performance with comparable organisations.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and respond to sustainability and risk data requests from CIE Sustainability, NTA, NewEra, consultants and other external agencies.
  • Support the preparation of capital and operational funding proposals within the Safety and Sustainability function.
  • Monitor sustainability and risk policies, identify improvement opportunities and maintain accurate sustainability and risk records, reports and databases.
  • Undertake regional site visits and other duties required to support the delivery of the Sustainability Strategy.


KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:


  • Level 8 qualification in Sustainability, Risk Management, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks legislation, risk management and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data identify trends and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Experience producing reports statistics and management information.
  • Experience maintaining databases and managing large volumes of data accurately.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting methodologies and key performance indicators.
  • Experience using SAP or similar systems and an understanding of procurement processes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
