Senior Building Automation Systems Technician – San Antonio, TX
Location: San Antonio, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Some On-Call Rotation
Compensation: DOE + Full Benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior BAS / Controls Technician who thrives on complex retro-commissioning, logic rebuilding, and BACnet diagnostics. You’ll be the point person for system startups, troubleshooting, and integration across commercial HVAC sites.
If you can tune a PID loop blindfolded and explain BBMD routing in plain English — we want to talk.
Responsibilities
- Perform DDC system startups and retro-commissioning for AHUs, VAVs, and hydronic systems.
- Rebuild and optimize control logic from written sequences of operation.
- Analyze and tune PID loops, reset strategies, and control curves.
- Diagnose BACnet/IP, MSTP, and Modbus communication issues (device bindings, BBMDs, routing).
- Configure trends, alarms, and energy-saving sequences in Niagara or Alerton/Honeywell systems.
- Mentor junior techs on checkout, calibration, and documentation.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years experience in BAS / HVAC Controls.
- Proficiency in Tridium Niagara, Distech, Alerton, or Honeywell.
- Familiar with IP networking, VLAN basics, and switch diagnostics.
- Strong grasp of HVAC mechanical systems, airflow, and energy management principles.
- Able to read schematics, write commissioning reports, and interface with clients.
