Job Title: Sustainability Data Analyst

Location: India

Type: Full-time, fixed-term contract (10 months)

About The Role

We are seeking an analytical and detail orientated Sustainability Data Analyst to join BSI’s Global Sustainability team. This critical role will support the delivery of our 2026 GHG assurance cycle, ensuring our carbon data is high-quality, audit-ready, and aligned with global standards like ISO 14064 and the GHG Protocol.

You will be at the heart of our assurance process, focusing on the integrity of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data. Your primary mission is to bridge the gap between raw data collection and successful third-party assurance, ensuring data is robust, traceable, and audit ready by managing detailed audit trails and resolving data anomalies within a fast-paced global environment.

The role will also support the evolution of our data processes in line with emerging assurance and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assurance & Audit Management: Prepare detailed audit trails, maintain a structured evidence repository, and act as a key point of contact for external assurance providers during process walkthroughs.
  • Assurance Coordination: Support responses to external assurance queries, testing requests, and walkthroughs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Data Validation: Collate, clean, and validate global datasets across all emission scopes, ensuring the increased granularity required for ISO-aligned verification is met.
  • Methodology Support: Apply and review emissions factors, ensuring alignment with GHG Protocol, ISO 14604 and SECR requirements.
  • Systems & Controls: Strengthen data controls and reconciliation processes to support scalable, assurance ready reporting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with global reporting contacts and internal data owners (Finance, Property, Travel) to improve the quality and timeliness of data outputs.
  • Continue Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve data quality, automation and reporting efficiency across the GHG process.

To Be Successful In The Role, You Will Have

  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrable experience in data analysis, handling large datasets, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including experience working with structured data models and audit trails.
  • Sustainability Knowledge: A solid understanding of GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 standards, specifically regarding Scope 1, 2, and 3 data with practical application across reporting.
  • Assurance Background: Experience supporting external assurance or audit processes, including responding to queries and preparing supporting evidence.
  • Analytical Rigor: A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to investigate inconsistencies and simplify complex data into clear, actionable outputs.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to work collaboratively in a global environment, engaging effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners as part of the wider team.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong ownership, ability to work independently using own initiative, solution focused, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Desirable Criteria: Experience working with ESG / GHG reporting platforms (e.g. EcoMetrica) or similar data systems, for e.g. financial, or operational reporting data systems would be advantageous.
