Location: Hybrid - Charlotte, NC (onsite 3 days/week)
Employment Type: 12+ Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay: 55-68 hourly depending on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a Finance Data Engineering team supporting enterprise data needs across the CFO organization, finance, and supply chain. This role will focus on designing and implementing scalable data solutions, building complex data pipelines, and integrating data from multiple enterprise source systems into Snowflake and AWS-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Build and implement complex ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple enterprise source systems.
- Develop data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration processes within Snowflake and AWS environments.
- Build reusable data assets, curated datasets, and data models for downstream consumption.
- Transform and expose data for analytics, reporting, forecasting, operational workflows, and AI solutions.
- Support data migration, decommissioning, and other enterprise data initiatives.
- Ensure data solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
Cloud Data Engineering
- Leverage AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS, and other cloud-native technologies to support data processing and storage.
- Work with cloud data warehouse and data lake architectures.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, tune, and optimize data workloads for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Apply data quality, governance, lineage, and observability practices across data products and platforms.
AI-Enabled Engineering
- Leverage AI-powered development tools and coding assistants to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
- Utilize generative AI capabilities to support development, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and data pipeline development.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual engineering processes through AI-enabled workflows and tooling.
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies and adopt relevant tools and best practices while following enterprise security and governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional experience in data engineering.
- Strong SQL development skills, including complex queries, transformations, and data manipulation.
- Strong Python development skills.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
- Experience with data modeling and developing datasets for downstream consumption.
- Experience working in AWS data engineering environments.
- Understanding of cloud data lake and data warehouse concepts.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Snowflake, including data ingestion, transformation, and development of downstream datasets.
- Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, and ECS.
- Experience with GitLab and CI/CD.
- Experience with data quality, governance, lineage, and observability.
- Experience developing batch and/or near real-time data pipelines.
- Experience supporting finance, supply chain, analytics, reporting, or enterprise data environments.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development tools or generative AI.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
