About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Sustainability Management, the Senior Analyst, Sustainability will support Brookfield Renewable’s portfolio of companies on initiatives related to ESG reporting, sustainability performance, emissions management, climate change, biodiversity, and circularity management. This position will be responsible for analyzing various sustainability metrics and will assist in identifying areas of improvement in portfolio company sustainability programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish approaches, templates, and processes to support the achievement of Brookfield Renewable’s ESG targets and transition fund impact targets, and ensure alignment with Brookfield Renewable’s Sustainability policies. This will require addressing a broad range of ESG topics including GHG emissions, biodiversity, water consumption, circularity, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to guide implementation of ESG data collection and reporting systems, with the goal of ensuring an audit ready dataset for required annual and quarterly reporting.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of ESG data submitted by portfolio companies.
  • Assess the sustainability performance of portfolio companies, through data collection and periodic company engagements, to identify areas of improvement.
  • Develop and implement dashboard capabilities in conjunction with internal stakeholders to track ESG metrics and progress against established targets.
  • Provide advisory on standards and regulations relevant to Brookfield Renewable’s portfolio companies, such as TCFD, SBTi, GRI, GHG Protocol.
  • Support the ESG due diligence processes for investments in North America in line with internal requirements.
  • Maintain an understanding of current and emerging best practices, technology, policy, and regulatory aspects of sustainability topics, and develop summaries and reports on key sustainability issues and topics.


Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in sustainability management, business, engineering or environmental studies, Master’s degree a plus.
  • Four to six years of related professional experience and demonstrated track record in sustainability; preferably with experience in energy, operations, management consulting, asset management, and/or financial services.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing GHG emissions programs, including developing emissions reductions plans, and substantial familiarity with the GHG Protocol and Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials.
  • Experience with, and/or knowledge of, relevant ESG frameworks and standards including TCFD, SASB, CSRD, SBTi, TNFD, ect.
  • Understanding of sustainability trends, regulations and best practice including in decarbonization, human rights, biodiversity, water and circularity.
  • Enthusiasm for sustainability, Climate Change and renewable energy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Strong skills in use of IT tools to combine and analyze large amounts of data from various sources and generate reports and graphics.


Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site to perform most effectively.


Salary: $80,000 - $115,000, bonus eligible.
